I’m an communicator, first and foremost. I’m also driven by a desire to create music and media content in order to connect with people who are interested in performing, producing and listening to music. I achieve this through, paid live music performances, participation in various open mic nights around Brisbane, recording music both at home and in studio environments (SAE Brisbane campus), songwriting, social media and my personal website. Most recently, I’ve started capturing live music performance on video and promoting these videos through my Facebook band page: stonestreetmusic.
I’m currently producing DYI promotional videos for bands and editing them on entry level software. I’ll be studying cinematography at SAE Brisbane staring in September 2017 and It is my aim to become an expert in audio visual skills. My plan is to then offer those skills as a professional service to musicians and venues supporting live music in and around Brisbane. I have actively raised by social media presence primarily through Facebook, by creating a personal page on bandcamp.com where I promote live music events, organise photographers to be present at live music events and promote other musicians by creating videos of their performance.
I play guitar, bass guitar and sing and I also play keyboards on recordings that I’m producing for myself and to satisfy assessment requirements for my degree in audio. My main source of inspiration is soul, funk, jazz, blues, reggae and Brazilian bossa/samba; anything with a ‘groove’. My aim to produce and record these various genres and eventually bring these various music styles to live audiences on a regular basis. I still aspire to be a semi-professional jazz musician and went so far as to audition for a place in the Brisbane Conservatorium’s Jazz School, where I auditioned for both jazz guitar and jazz vocals.
I have extensive experience in both secondary and adult education, primarily in the TESOL industry where communication with people from cultures all over the world, was of primary importance. I’m interested in cultures from around the world and I spent two years living and working in Madrid, Spain and I can speak Spanish at an intermediate level. I’ve also travelled to India on numerous occasions and have an ongoing interest in spirituality and meditation.
It’s my aim to eventually bring together my extensive experience in education and musical experience to develop new directions for myself within the music industry as a producer. I’m currently studying a degree in studio production at SAE Brisbane to enable me to realise my musical ideas through the latest technology and enable others to do the same. In addition to the content creation, I would also envisage that I would draw on my experience in education to work within the tertiary sector as an educator. I’m interested in the method and delivery of quality education and I’ve recently been elected to the student representative council to help me achieve these goals within SAE Brisbane.
